Comeau Joins UAM Athletic Dept. Staff

MONTICELLO — Following a successful career as a student-athlete for the University of Arkansas at Monticello, Evan Comeau is joining the athletic department staff as a graduate assistant for game day operations.

Comeau was a three-year starter at shortstop for the UAM baseball team, which most recently won the 2016 Great American Conference tournament championship and advanced to the finals of the NCAA regional tournament. Comeau and the Weevils broke nine school records during the 2016 season, including setting a new record for wins with a final record of 40-16.

The Halifax, Nova Scotia native is a two-time winner of the Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award, a two-time GAC All-Academic team member, a 2016 first team All-GAC selection, a 2016 selection to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association Academic All-District team, a two-time finalist for UAM’s scholar athlete of the year award and a past inductee into the Alpha Chi Honor Society.

He was also selected to the 2016 GAC and NCAA Central Region all-tournament teams.

“We are very fortunate to have Evan still a part of the UAM Athletics family,” said UAM Athletics Director Chris Ratcliff. “Evan was extremely successful in both athletics and academics, and we look forward to seeing what that work ethic can do in his new role.”

Comeau graduated from UAM this past May with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. He is currently teaching at Warren High School, while working toward a Master of Arts and Teaching degree.
